Who we are: This site, ChiefReputationOfficers.com (the "Site"), is operated by Chief Reputation Officers, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect
Analytics and usage data. When you visit the Site, we collect standard analytics about how the Site is used, such as pages viewed, referring links, approximate location derived from IP address (not stored by us as a precise location), device and browser type, and on-site actions like search queries. We collect this through two tools:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which uses cookies. In the EEA and the UK, GA4 runs only after you consent (see "Cookies and your choices"). GA4 is provided by Google and governed by Google's own privacy terms.
- Ahrefs Web Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool. It sets no cookies and does not identify you individually; it provides only aggregate traffic measurement.
Search queries. Terms entered into the Site's search may be recorded in our analytics (including searches that return no results) so we can understand what visitors look for and improve our content. We do not associate search terms with your identity, and our search does not log entries that look like an email address or a long numeric string.
Information you provide. If you contact us, for example by emailing privacy@ or contact@chiefreputationofficers.com or submitting a form if one is offered, we receive whatever information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, and message.
Server and security logs. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and request data) to deliver and secure the Site.
We do not require accounts, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary items, including the cookie that remembers your consent choices, are always active. Analytics cookies are used only as described below and in our Cookie and Consent Policy. Ahrefs Web Analytics uses no cookies.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate, maintain, and secure the Site; understand how it is used and improve our content and navigation; respond to inquiries; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and we run no advertising tags on the Site.
Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics cookies (which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site and understanding aggregate usage; and compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed: Google (Google Analytics 4), subject to your consent where required; Ahrefs (cookieless Web Analytics); and Netlify (hosting, content delivery, security). We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers from the EEA or UK rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' standard contractual clauses.
Data retention
We retain GA4 analytics data for the period configured in Google Analytics (currently up to 14 months; confirm the setting in GA4 Admin). We retain correspondence for as long as needed to address your inquiry and meet legal requirements. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics may be retained longer.
Your rights and choices
Everyone. You can manage analytics cookies at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the Site footer.
EEA and UK visitors. Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@chiefreputationofficers.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US state residents. Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of "sharing" or "sale" (we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we run no advertising). To opt out of analytics, use the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the Site footer or the "Cookie settings" control. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Global Privacy Control. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid opt-out of analytics for visitors where that applies.
Children
The Site is intended for a professional audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
